Silver Mountain Fortress
Unique facility in the scale of Europe's cultural heritageSilver Mountain Fortress is a unique facility in the scale of Europe’s cultural heritage and one of the most important attractions of Lower Silesia. At its creation (1765 -1777) it was one of the most modern fortifications of this type in Europe. The powerful Donjon, one of the most interesting fortifications of the modern age, aroused and continues to the greatest admiration. The tours of the fortress is explored with a guide in the historic Prussian uniforms, the complex consists of six forts and several bastions. Its leading core makes a team of bastions with Donjon inside. The facility had 151 fortress rooms (casemates), spread over three floors. Huge warehouses, wells, armoury, chapel, jail, hospital, bakery, brewery, craft workshops and a powder magazine made the fort completely independent and self-sufficient.
