Srebrna Góra Fortress
Unique facility in the scale of Europe's cultural heritageSilver Mountain Fortress is a unique site in the context of Europe’s military cultural heritage and one of the most important attractions in Lower Silesia. The imposing Donjon, one of the most fascinating structures of early modern fortifications, inspires the greatest admiration. The vastness of the entire complex and its location on the mountaintops place Silver Mountain Fortress among the largest mountain defensive structures on our continent.
During their visit, guests have the opportunity to meet a guide – a soldier – who presents the fortress’s history and curiosities in an engaging way.
Tours are conducted in the company of a guide – a soldier – who vividly and accessibly conveys the fortress’s history, daily life, and numerous interesting facts. The itinerary includes:
-
touring the casemates,
-
descending to the underground water intake, including a 53-meter-deep rock-cut well and its historical pumping mechanism,
-
crossing the underground bridge,
-
walking through the deepest moat in Poland.
Visitors of all ages – adults, children, and teenagers – can also explore a rich array of fortress artillery used in the defense of the stronghold, including demonstrations of black powder firearms during the tour. All attractions and exhibits are designed to engage and inspire without overwhelming visitors with information, allowing them to experience the realities of an 18th-century mountain fortress.
New thematic routes are also available:
-
the modern multimedia route “How the Fortress Was Built”, which clearly illustrates the process of constructing this monumental stronghold,
-
the seasonal summer route “Craftsmanship in the Fortress”, showcasing historical trades and the hard work of the fortress builders.
In the heart of the fortress, in authentic historical rooms, guests will find a Hostel and Restaurant, offering a unique atmosphere and a chance to relax in an exceptional historic setting.
We especially recommend:
-
